Westminster Canterbury

Westminster Canterbury Corner

Sue Clewell, Advocate
We have many church members unfamiliar with what Westminster Canterbury is all about. Here's a quick review of history, mission and values that you may find published in their Annual Report. It was founded in 1975 by the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches and welcomes all persons regardless of race, religion or nationality. It serves nearly 900 residents with a wide variety of housing options, activities and amenities for active lifestyles. It is a not-for-profit affiliate of Westminster Canterbury Management Corporation. Westminster Canterbury Foundation, a separate corporation, raises funds for Westminster Canterbury Richmond’s charitable endeavors.

Mission
As a faith-based charitable organization, Westminster Canterbury will provide services, specific to need, in a compassionate, professional, holistic manner, through an inspiring environment and dynamic leadership for our residents, employees and others we serve.

Values
  • Caring - compassion and empathy
  • Ethics - wisdom and experience to do the right thing
  • Leadership - maintaining a position of excellence
  • Teamwork - working together to achieve common goals
  • Innovation - creative pursuit of excellence
  • Commitment - steady focus on the Vision and Mission
  • Stewardship - prudent use of all resources
President Don Lecky has stated that “at Westminster Canterbury, residents know that our lifetime commitment is backed by financial strength and the Fellowship Program. No one ever will be asked to leave our community because of an inability to pay.”

If you would like any further information about their community, a tour of facilities, or inquiries about residency, please call Admissions at 264 6256. The Director, Laurie Hemler, or an assistant, will be happy to help you.

Fellowship Fund

Westminster Canterbury is an Episcopal/Presbyterian-sponsored residence for elderly persons. The Fellowship Fund provides financial assistance for those who cannot pay full fees.
