Hands-on opportunities are  available on an on-going basis for the following:

Assisting Families of Inmates:

Provides transportation to state prisons and other support services for families of incarcerated persons. Church volunteers work with children and provide the evening meal to families after a long day of visiting.

Saturdays

Elder Homes:

Non-profit agency in Richmond whose goal is to provide decent, safe, and affordable housing to low-income persons by rehabilitating existing homes, creating multi-family housing for elderly, and providing home ownership opportunities for low-income buyers.

Saturdays in the  summer

Tutoring:

Work with school-age children at the Friends Family Center in Jackson Ward. As a tutor, you may be involved in: assisting students with homework, helping young children with reading activities, or reinforcing or reviewing an academic subject.

Weekday Afternoons

Hands-on opportunities are  available on an as needed basis for the following:

Habitat for Humanity (Blitz Build):

Help build homed for needy residents under the supervision of professional foremen.  Blitz build from March 20-31, 2007.

Tuesday-Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Guardian Project: 

Provide support for Guardian Project, focused on needs of mentally challenged seniors requiring guardianship.  Orientation and training will be provided.
