Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter (CARITAS)

For one week every winter, Second Presbyterian Church hosts 30 to 35 homeless guests in our building. This effort involves over 100 volunteers from our congregation in various opportunities for ministry. People of all ages can join in this important ministry. 

The dates for this year are April 28 - May 5, 2012. 

You may get involved in this wonderful program in the following ways:

Key volunteers– one person, four hour shift from 5-9pm each night helping make our guests feel welcome
 
Overnight volunteers– two people, from 9pm-7am helping make our guests comfortable and putting out the breakfast trays and bag lunches in the morning; this is a two person job from 9pm-7am. WE PARTICULARLY NEED YOUR HELP HERE!!!!!
 
Set-up volunteers– 5-10 volunteers to help transform the Hawes building into a dorm on Saturday, April 28; exact time TBA

Breakdown volunteers– 5-10 volunteers to help clean up and convert the Hawes building back to its original condition on Saturday, May 5; exact time TBA 
 
Dinner Prep Teams– teams to prepare and serve dinner and make bag lunches for the following day 
 
Entertainment volunteers– anyone with the gift to entertain willing to give about 30min of their time after dinner, be creative, i.e.- music, magic, movies, arts and crafts
