Adult Church School
ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES IN FEBRUARY
The Faith and Literature Class will be reading and discussing stories from Ron Rash's collection, Burning Bright. Rash is a contemporary author who writes mainly about Appalachia. This is a description of the book from the library webpage: "captures the eerie beauty, stark violence, and rugged character of Appalachia in a collection of stories that spans the Civil War to the present day." Copies of the book are available at church.
The Faith and Art ExpressionsClass will take a stab at writing short poems (Haiku, List , Found words ) and group limericks based on scripture. Later we will see some videos--Marc Chagall, Images of Christ in Art, and carve our own rubber stamps while listening to music. No experience necessary. The Class is also planning a Winter Art Show - if you have items you would like to offer for the show, please contact Allison Vogler or Janice McMurray.
The Pastor's Class - The Kingdom of God – What is it? What does it mean for 21st century Christians? How do we live into it, especially with our frenzied and frenetic lives? Has it truly begun in Jesus? Could it really come to fruition?
We will look at Bible passages, think about what others have written or said about the Kingdom of God, and strive to find deeper faith and more devoted lives as God’s people.
Come and learn; come and participate in the conversation; come and share in the fellowship, the questions, the insights for more faithful living.
