  Acts of Faith Theatre Festival 2012                                                                   

Each theatre will offer at least one talkback immediately following a performance to discuss the faith issues presented in the play.  Talkbacks include the play director, cast members, and faith leaders in the community.  Play directors or cast members will also participate in discussions at any faith community to add an inside perspective on the play.

Ain’t Misbehavin, The Fats Waller Musical Show based on an idea by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr. Music by Thomas Wright “Fats” Waller and lyrics by various artists

Celebrating the music of icon, Fats Waller, a versatile cast struts and sings the songs that he made famous from uptown clubs in Harlem to Tin Pan Alley, Hollywood, and concert Halls in Europe and Canada.

God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza

Two little boys scuffle on the playground and their progressive parents meet to sort things out in a civilized manner.  By evening's end, all hope is lost prompting us to debate whether we have an Old Testament God of vengeance and power or a New Testament God of compassion and peace?  Religion prompts wars just as often as it ends them.

Based on the true friendship between Patsy Cline and a fan from Houston, this heartfelt musical allows us to view Christianity through the lens of country music.  The musical play, complete with down home country humor, true emotion and even some audience participation, includes many of Patsy’s unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight… 27 songs in all.

You Don’t Know Me:  Trio of One Acts - Ohio State Murders by Adrienne Kennedy, Beirut Rocks & Security by Israel Horovitz

Three one-act plays take an intriguing look at the destructiveness of prejudice in society. An African-American writer unravels a dark mystery stemming from her 1949 studies at Ohio State, an immigration agent confronts an Iranian woman and her son at Newark Airport, and two American students, one Jewish, the other a Palestinian-born Arab, clash heatedly in a Beirut hotel room.

This longest running comedy in L.A and Off-Broadway history tells the story of two single men form a secret pact to help the other find the perfect girl.  Chris, a gentile, wants to marry a Jewish girl so he’ll never have to make another decision. Adam Lipschitz, a Jew, wants to marry a Jewish girl to please his family, but can’t get a date to save his life.  Stereotypes collide, cultures clash and chaos ensues!
